The Emergency Care Foundation put together a great event which begun on the green at Addington Raceway on 3rd November 2009. Here welcome drinks were served (courtesy of Pernod Ricard) by staff in silks. Supporters were offered the chance to bet on the Melbourne Cup whilst watching it live on the big screen in the unique venue of Addington Stables. Dick Tayler, best known for his triumph in the 10,000m at the Commonwealth Games but also for his vast knowledge on horse racing  kindly agreed to host the evning and even provided some advice before New Zealands Racing Season formally got underway. Other entertainment saw him introduce some racing personalities, live music (from CPIT) , a delectable three course dinner, wine, on spot prizes and an auction.
